Privacy Policy

Filchy draws tarot cards or casts I Ching hexagrams and writes an AI-generated reading for each one. It is built and run by an independent developer, Taylor Burke. This page explains what the app stores, who else touches your data, and how to delete it.
The short version
- You can use the app without an account. If you do, nothing is saved on our servers.
- If you sign in with Google, we save your readings, and any notes you add, so you can find them again. You can delete them at any time.
- Everything about your birth details and remembered questions is optional, and you can remove it whenever you like.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or run analytics in the app.
What we store when you sign in
- Your Google account email and Google's opaque account identifier. We don't receive your Google password, contacts, or profile photo.
- Each reading you complete: the card or hexagram, whether the card was reversed, the intention you typed (if any), the reading text, and the follow-up questions suggested for it.
- Any note you write on a saved reading.
- Sign-in sessions: a hashed record of each active session, so the app can keep you signed in and sign you out. The raw session token is never stored on our servers.
- Follow-up questions and answers on a saved reading, for readers who use them.
- Birth details, only if you add them: your birth date, and optionally your birth time and birth place (its name, its coordinates, and the time zone we work out from them). We use them to work out your chart for the daily horoscope and for astrology in your readings.
- Your daily horoscopes, one per day you open the app while signed in with birth details.
- Your settings, such as whether readings may remember your recent questions.
- Dates and times for the above.
Your intentions and notes are free text and can be personal. They are stored only for signed-in users, only so you can read them back, and are never used for anything else, except as described under "Who else handles your data" below.
What we store when you are signed out
Nothing. A reading is generated and shown to you, but not saved anywhere on our side.
Who else handles your data
- AI providers, via OpenRouter. To write a reading, our server sends the card or hexagram, whether it is reversed, and your optional intention to OpenRouter, which routes it to an AI model provider. A second request sends the finished reading text to suggest follow-up questions. This happens whether or not you are signed in. Two more things can go with a request, both only when you're signed in and have chosen them:
- Astrology. If you've added birth details, requests for readings and horoscopes include a short description of your chart and of the sky that day (for example "Saturn is square your natal Sun in Leo"). Your birth date, time and place themselves are not sent.
- Your recent questions. Only if you turn on "Let readings remember your recent questions" in Profile, your last four questions and the dates you asked them are sent with each new reading. It's off unless you switch it on, and you can switch it off at any time. Dreams and journal entries are never included.
- Google, to sign you in.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim), when you search for your birth place. The place name you type is sent to their search service from our server, not from your device. Nothing that identifies you goes with it.
- Turso, the database service where signed-in data is stored.
- Expo (EAS Hosting), which hosts the app's server. Like any web host, it may keep standard request logs such as IP addresses. We also use your IP address briefly, in memory only, to limit abusive request rates; we don't store it.
This website
filchy.com is a static site with no accounts, forms, advertising or cookies. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which, like any web host, may keep standard request logs such as IP addresses.
Security
All traffic between the app and our server uses HTTPS. On your device, your sign-in session is kept in the operating system's secure storage.
How long we keep it, and how to delete it
We keep your data until you delete it. Deletion is permanent, and we don't keep a copy in our database.
- One reading or note: open it in History and delete it.
- Your whole account: in the app, go to Profile and choose Delete account. This removes your account, every saved reading, note and follow-up, your birth details, your daily horoscopes, your settings, and every sign-in session.
- Just your birth details: in Profile, open your birth details and remove them. This also deletes your saved horoscopes, and astrology and the daily horoscope stop.
- Just your remembered questions: switch off "Let readings remember your recent questions" in Profile.

Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
